St. Xavier’s College, Mapusa – Goa is a pioneer institution in education. It was founded by the Archdiocese of Goa in June, 1963 and was affiliated to the University of Bombay in the same year. However, in June, 1985, Goa University came into existence and thus, St. Xavier’s College is now, an institution affiliated to Goa University.
During the academic year 2013-2014, the College has been re-accredited by NAAC with grade ‘A’ and GPA score 3.36.
St. Xavier’s College, takes pride to be the first College in the state to offer an Undergraduate programmes in B.A. Mass Communication & Videography. Understanding the demand for this Professional Course in the fast growing world of Media & Communications, the Department boasts of eight successful batches comprising of 180 young minds who have entered the media industry and 70 young, aspiring media-oriented students pursuing the Course, all set to meet the challenges of the media industry head on.
The unprecedented expansion in the field of Mass Communication in the last decade has sensitized society towards the potential of the electronic media. The market offers enormous opportunities for media persons competent in the latest communication technologies.
This course focuses on the various dimensions of electronic and other related media, like Television production, Advertising, Filmmaking, Public relations and Corporate Communication. It seeks to foster a spirit of creativity and critical enquiry.
